Keep a task list and reference notes separate

A small structure you can use in Notion or an ordinary notes app.

Editorial sample — awaiting final review.

This sample suggests a structure, not a current Notion interface tutorial. There are no simulated app screenshots, feature claims, or product endorsements.

Make two simple headings

Use “Next actions” for things to do and “Reference” for information you want to keep. A plain document is enough to try this arrangement.

Write actions as actions

For a sample household project, “measure the shelf” belongs under next actions. “Shelf width: example value” belongs in reference after you have actual measurements.

Link only what helps

If your notes app supports links, connect a task to its reference note. Otherwise, put a clear note title beside the task.

Remove completed work from the active list

Keep useful reference information even after the action is complete. Check the current official app documentation before turning this into a product-specific guide.
